Welcome to the PNG Society for Rural and Remote Health website!
For the month of October we will be focusing each week on highlights from the annual society conference held last month on the 8th and 9th. The theme for the conference was “Hospital Designs – Is there a minus standard?” We had keynote speakers from NDoH Building and Facility Standards manager Mr Ambrose Kwaramb, overseas guest speaker Dr John Oommen the founder of Christian Hospital Bissamcuttack and home grown insights from Misima, Kompiam, Kapuna. Mr Japalis Kaiok, chairman of PNG Christian Health Services gave a perceptive account of the impactful influence having a doctor at a rural health facility can make. An important conclusion of the conference saw the ‘Recommendations of Rural Hospital Design’ drafted. This summary work in progress will be presented to the NDoH before the years end. The special features tab will take you to our story of the week – ENJOY!
The current news of rural health around the country will still be posted in rural happenings tab.
